The staff at the Washington County Convention and Visitor's Bureau is
happy to assist travel journalists who want to research or visit the
state. Here are a few of the services we provide.
PHONE OR E-MAIL CONSULTATIONS
If you're not sure where it is you want
to go or what it is you want to do, we'll be happy to talk you through
it. We can provide all kinds of suggestion and help you develop a spark
of an idea into a truly great story. In addition, we can provide you
with brochures about destinations, attractions, accommodations and restaurants
throughout Washington County, so you can have information at your fingertips
in a heartbeat!
INDIVIDUAL PRESS ITINERARIES
As you explore the county, we can assist
you in planning an itinerary that specifically suits your
needs and the interests of your audience. Whether your plans are simple
or rather extensive, we can work out the details. We'll help with logistics,
finding accommodations, and we can put you in touch with all the people
who can guide you, answer your questions and generally make your life
easier. A completed Journalists' Application is required for individual
press trips. Please contact Tom Riford at 301-791-3246 to receive an
application.
SLIDE LIBRARY
We maintain a library of slides from sites throughout
the county. So if you've written a great story that needs
some art in order to really sell, check with us. We lend our materials
to travel journalists and publications, free of charge. And, by the way,
if you're a photographer who captures a great shot of Washington County,
we're always willing to negotiate about adding your work to our collection.
EDITING AND PROOFREADING
Whether you are updating a guidebook or just
sold a story based on the trip you took a year ago and want
to check some facts, we're happy to look things over and let you know
what's open, what's closed, what phone number to use - everything! Contact
us today to find out more about Washington County!
